Abstract
PEREZ, Pablo Ernesto. Youth labor insertion and gender inequalities in recent Argentina. Reflexiones [online]. 2018, vol.97, n.1, pp.85-98. ISSN 1659-2859. http://dx.doi.org/10.15517/rr.v97i1.30899.
The article examines the ways in which gender inequalities are expressed in the different possibilities of labor insertion of young people in Argentina during the period 2003-2014. For this purpose, analyzing quantitative data from the Argentina Permanent Household Survey (2003-2014) and the INDEC National Youth Survey (2014), it inquire into the differentiated social roles between men and women, mainly in relation to family responsibilities -the so-called care tasks-, and their implications on the employment possibilities of both sexes. This makes it possible to affirm the presence of lower rates of labor participation and employment for women as a social norm and not as a rational choice. In this sense, we find that gender inequalities accentuate inequality in the access to the labor market of young women, especially those of humble crib.
