Abstract

DIAZ, Sandra  and  SILVA, Eliud. The (non-contributory) Pension Program for older adults in Mexico, Federal District in front of the aging population. PSM [online]. 2014, vol.12, n.1, pp.32-43. ISSN 1659-0201.

Someestimatestopresentscopes and limitations of theelderlypension in the Federal District, Mexico, amiditsdemographicageing, are made. Accordingtothelatestcensus, theprocess of ageingis and will be fasterthanexpected, and in suchscenario, therewill be substantialeconomicimplicationsforthe performance of theprogram. Officialpopulationprojections are used, someassumptions are assumed and futurevalues of theprogram in differentcircumstances are quantified. Weconcludethattheviability of theprogramishighlycompromisedwithout a deepstrategyabletofinanceit.
