At present, the research directed to the formation of the professional of Natural Sciences, with pedagogical profile in the Cuban context, generally orient to the academic to the detriment of the community work. Based on the identification of needs associated with the sustainable management of invading exotic species, nutrition education, drug prevention, plant utilization and gender equity, linking with the educational process and the contexts of action of the Teacher, a research line of the project of the Department of Natural Sciences of the University of Ciego de Ávila, Cuba was directed. This article presents the results of the implementation of a community project in Vista Hermosa community; actions were developed as part of the work practice plan of the teachers of the area careers in the period from September 2015 to October 2016. A mixed approach was used; we worked with a sample of 257 actors in community work actions. In the collection and analysis of the data, associated with the appropriation of knowledge related to the problems detected in the community, we used participant observation, deep interviews, survey, triangulation of sources and mathematical procedures such as percentage calculation, frequency tables and bar graphs. There were favorable transformations of more than 80%, highlighting the level of updating of the topics covered and their use in life and the contribution of community work to the training of the education professional. There is still a lack of social integration of all actors in the transformation of the community.
