This article presents the results of research, whose aim was to study the philosophy and educational reform of Rabindranath Tagore in India and its influence on Omar Dengo and Joaquín García Monge, costarrican thinkers and educators of the first part of XX century. First, it was compiled and reviewed in detail the bibliography about the work and educational philosophy of Tagore inside and outside of the country, as well as the literary and educational work of Omar Dengo and Joaquín García Monge, like his work as educators, in a moment of paradigmatic changes in the Costa Rican education. The conclusions of the work derive from the result of the interpretation and comparison of the thought and educational activity of these three educators.
