Abstract: The Costa Rican society experiences adverse situations that can be tackled by counseling, such as drug addiction, dropping out of school, and violence. However, in this country, Community Counseling is one of the lesser-developed areas. Looking at these latent needs in the communities and Counseling in regards to said communities, this research was developed as a means to provide spaces for intervention. This article presents the results of the descriptive investigation, under Robert Yin’s case study method, developed to opt for a licentiate’s degree. It took place in 2014, in a prototype community in the metropolitan area. To collect data, the following techniques were used: individual and group interviews, document analysis, and observation. We identified conceptual elements, processes, and facilitating conditions in a community, to put Counseling methods and actions into practice, in the context of a Costa Rican community. Thus concluding that community intervention is feasible, as it can use existing spaces in organized groups. And another result is the support of a unique definition of Community Counseling which includes combined aid processes that favor community life and the lives of each member
