YEDAIDE, María Marta  e  PORTA, Luis. Seven theses on the horizon. New myths and old utopias for teaching. Rev. Actual. Investig. Educ [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.1, pp.484-501. ISSN 1409-4703.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15517/aie.v16i1.22384.

The New Agenda for Didactics emerged in the late twentieth century as a reaction against the technocratic tradition in teaching, and a sign of growing trust in the potential of formal education to promote deep thought. Social needs and disciplinary concerns urged then for the overcoming of a naïve, simplistic and bare view of teaching as a method, which reduces the subjective dimension while it enhances the achievement of certain expected outcomes. As new authors and their work became known to the academic audience, new ideas and theses resulted in a discursive metamorphosis of what had so far been understood as didactics, especially in higher education. This change, however, did not transcend the level of discourse into actual practice. This may be explained by the interplay of a number of factors which will not be directly addressed in this article, which is instead devoted to stating seven theses commonly asserted in academic circles today and problematizing about the conditions which may foster new teaching practices along their lines.
