SOLORZANO SALAS, María Julieta. Actdiv scale to measure attitude towards diversity. Rev. Actual. Investig. Educ [online]. 2013, vol.13, n.1, pp.240-266. ISSN 1409-4703.
This paper presents the results of the investigation done on the year 2011, which objective was to measure the attitude towards diversity the students had during their first year in the School for Teacher Training (Escuela de Formación Docente) in the University of Costa Rica. Therefore, the Liker “ACTDIV Scale” was created. The theoretical revisions defined that diversity is conceptualized from human differences, and it is present every day in the relationships with other people, whom at the same time, determine the difference. The latent construct denominated diversity was explained through existing human differences in the personal, cultural and cognitive aspects, this last one being the sub-construct. Furthermore, the ACTDIV scale measured the attitude towards diversity in first year students, in a bipolar way, through two categories called “Sensible to diversity”, where 86% of the consulted persons, desire to know and learn the existing differences between persons; and “My world”, with 14%, who value in an egocentric and hegemonic way the social reality
