From the peronism government (in 1943), the different governments marked the outset of a fluctuation between the adoption of liberal and populist economic policies. Faced with the need to seek an answer to the problems affecting the Argentine economy, succeeding ministers, who belonged to different political factions, applied either orthodox or heterodox models depending on the current economic state of affairs. This pendular movement between orthodox and heterodox policies may be divided into two periods: 19431975 (mercadointernismo) and 1976-2001 (aperturismo). The year 1976 marks a clearly distinct dividing line between the economic policies so far applied. The current period (after 2001 crisis) could be seen as a heterodox or mercadointernismo. These economic policies influenced the real wages levels, looking for reinforce these policies. At the same time, these politics implied changes in the Skill Premium.
