Histopathology and Atrial Strain in Constrictive Pericarditis and restrictive cardiomyopathy Constrictive pericarditis and restrictive cardiomyopathy are rare diseases characterized by congestive heart failure symptoms. The aim of this study is to show the differential diagnosis of these two pathologies using strain and to establish their correlation with histopathology of the corresponding hearts. Two representative clinical cases of each of these pathologies are analyzed. Their clinical presentations, echocardiographic data, and endomyocardial biopsies were performed in both cases, thus presenting the histological correlation. Atrial strain allowed us to evaluate the affection of the atria, we consider that decreased atrial strain could be related to the presence of fibrosis.
