With the current knowledge of hypertension, the understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms of hypertensionhas advanced, where the main actors are the renin angiotensin aldosterone system and the sympathetic system. However, we are still far from understanding the complex interplay of these compensatory mechanisms and the behavior of blood pressure. Today we know from various studies of hypertension, that 60 to 80% of the patients will require combined therapy for an adequate control of blood pressure numbers.
