Resumen

Objective:
To determine the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections in the health area Heredia Cubujuquí from 2008 to 2012 in order to establish effective measures to control and prevent these diseases.
Methods:
A descriptive cross on the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the Health Area Heredia Cubujuquí from 2008 to 2012 was performed. 571 records STI diagnoses were analyzed population were described in their study variables of time place and person. Confidence intervals were determined at 95%. Excel, InfoStat, SPSS Statistics: various statistical programs were used as.
Results:
The highest prevalence of STIs is reached in 2012 to 1.85 per 100,000. Most cases is provided by the Central Heredia Canton with 67 % (95% CI 62.85 to 70.72).
The affected males were 62 % (95% CI 57.86-65.97) and females 38% (95% CI 34.03-42.14). Relationship for each sick man becomes sick women 's 0.6. The STI has a higher incidence in the five years of study is condilomatosis 50.9 per 100,000. predominantly in females with syphilis followed by 47.24 per 100,000 and prevalence in males. The lower incidence of diseases Chlamydia is 0.25 per 100,000.
