VILCHEZ -BARBOZA, Vivian y MENDOZA- PARRA, Sara. Gender equity in access to health care System: implications for nursing. Rev. costarric. salud pública [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.2, pp.105-110. ISSN 1409-1429.
Objective: To contribute from the nursing profession to the analysis of equity in health from the perspective of gender in access to the health care system. The analysis incorporates the differentiation of terms between equity, inequity and inequality in health. Health from a gender equity perspective allows viewing, understanding, disclosing and providing solutions to unequal and inequitable situations between men and women in the causes of morbidity and mortality, working patterns, health social security systems and the need for health services. Conclusions: Gender equity in health is a cross-sectorial issue, and therefore, it should be addressed from a number of disciplines; including nursing, especially because it is a profession that is in constant relationship with people in different social realities, and one of their key roles is to be advocates for human rights.
