Abstract

JIMENEZ HERRERA, Luis. Prevention against drugs. Rev. costarric. salud pública [online]. 2010, vol.19, n.2, pp.93-100. ISSN 1409-1429.

Objective: To explore of general way some aspects related to the subject of the prevention against drugs. Methodology: Identification and article revision of the data bases: EBRARY, E-Libro, EBSCO, ProQuest, Science Direct and Springer Link, with the intention to organize the information found in the following sections: general context, factors involved in the use and abuse of drugs, action - political - prevention against drugs and towards where the investigation goes. Results: Although a variety of concepts related to drugs exists, some of them follow in discussion given the multiple factors involved in the process. In the last years have happened few changes in the supply and the demand, but the consumption between men and women tends to equal itself, while the consumption initiates to earlier ages. One knows that protective factors and of risk exist that the use, abuse and dependency of drugs mediate, but young represent the most vulnerable group for the purposes of drugs. Efforts are realised in many sectors but of a neither nonhomogenous nor harmonic way and although there have been efforts to obtain prevention, especially in the educative scene, are factors that make difficult this work. The necessity is demonstrated to count on more investigation than it allows to orient the different actions to heft the effects within the complex world of drugs Conclusion: Before the complex phenomenon of drugs, it is required to know the different components involved so that they can be boarded of integral way. The revision allowed to realise an approach to the subject of prevention against drugs.
