Abstract

GARZONA NAVAS, Laura; MOREIRA HIDALGO, Federico; HIDALGO MATLOCK, Benjamín  and  SILES BRICENO, Randall. Micosis Fungoide: Revisión de tema y presentación de un caso. Rev. costarric. salud pública [online]. 2007, vol.16, n.30, pp.46-53. ISSN 1409-1429.

A 67 -year-old man, farmer, resident of La Uruca, San José, presented to the dermatology department because of the presence of tumoral lesions on his extremities, scalp and trunk for 8 months. The lesions had grown and were associated to pruritus. Thanks to clinical-pathological correlation, the final diagnosis of Mycosis Fungoides was established. This variant is the most frequent presentation of cutaneous T cell lymphoma. Several studies were done to rule out an infectious etiology. The treatment was chemotherapy plus PUVA, with satisfactory remission of the disease. The current article will present a case with a review of Mycosis Fungoides, its international incidence, clinical presentation and treatment.

Keywords : Lymphoma; mycosis fungoides; T-cell skin lymphoma; oral psoralens and UVA exposure; chemotherapy; Costa Rica.
