Abstract

RODRIGUEZ-RODRIGUEZ, Carlos; ZUNIGA-ORLICH, Arnoldo  and  RODRIGUEZ-SEGURA, Karen. Radiotherapy as treatment of tumor metastasis: Report of two cases. Acta pediátr. costarric [online]. 2009, vol.21, n.1, pp.52-54. ISSN 1409-0090.

We present two cases one with a neuroblastoma and another with a Ewing’s sarcoma, both children developed metastasis. The first case presents spinal cord compression produced by the lesion found in the body of the vertebra. The patient presents a compromise in the mobility and sensibility of the upper limb and lost sphincters control. The metastasis, in the second case, was found in the soft tissue located on the right parietal side of the head. In both cases we propose a treatment with radiotherapy for reversion and control of symptoms.

Keywords : radiotherapy; metastasis; Neuroblastoma; Ewing’s sarcoma.
