Firearm projectile injuries are defined as the effects produced on the body by shots fired with weapons loaded with projectiles or various types of gunpowder or other explosives. The legal medical assessment in these cases, in living persons, is carried out in the Forensic Medical Clinical Section of the Department of Legal Medicine of the Organismo de Investigación Judicial, this includes the legal medical history, physical examination, analysis of medical documents provided, expert carried out and bibliography review, this to have all the elements of judgment that allow an objective analysis based on scientific evidence, and thus be able to answer the questions of the Judicial Authority. This article covers some of the main aspects to be considered when faced with atypical findings of the entry and exit holes of the projectiles, through the presentation and approach of a clinical case.
