Abstract

Retinal detachment is a separation of the neurosensory retina from the retinal pigment epithelium. The most common form is rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, which occurs as the result of a full-thickness retinal break. Usually it is presented as a visual field defect or decreased visual acuity, which if isnot treated can be permanent.

Case presentation: the case is about a 57 years old male who was refer because a case of occupational hazard, with the antecedent of severe myopia and cataract surgery, who suffers a head trauma and subsequent start with visual defects that gradually worsens until he is diagnosed with retinal detachment.
