Resumen

PACHAR LUCIO, José Vicente. Abordaje médico forense de los cuerpos mutilados criminalmente. Med. leg. Costa Rica [online]. 2015, vol.32, n.2, pp.41-50. ISSN 2215-5287.

Post-mortem criminal mutilation is separation of the body in several parts that responds to different motivations. Proper approach, from the place of finding until the post-mortem examination, is essential for the collection of evidence that will allow the reconstruction of the fact. The methods and instruments used for mutilation have been described by researchers in several countries; however, the reasons defined in the literature on mutilation should be expanded given the complexity of the cases found in this region (Central America and Mexico). The following is a descriptive review of what has been published on the subject, in order to update useful concepts in the practice of a forensic doctor, which should be available for the approach and interpretation of the findings. Furthermore, a specific protocol for these cases is presented.

Palabras clave : Post - mortem criminal mutilation; Forensic medical approach Specific protocol.
