Abstract

UGALDE OVARES, Carlos Eduardo; ZUNIGA MONGE, Daniel  and  BARRANTES MONGE, Ricardo. Actualización del síndrome de hombro doloroso: lesiones del manguito rotador. Med. leg. Costa Rica [online]. 2013, vol.30, n.1, pp.63-71. ISSN 2215-5287.

The shoulder is a very mobile joint, which predisposes to multiple pathologies including rotator cuff injuries. It is a common cause of pain and functional limitation. To explore the shoulder we use the anamnesis, physical examination, multiple maneuvers with different levels of specificity and sensitivity, and imaging studies such as X-rays, ultrasound, and MRI. The knowledge and treatment of rotator cuff ruptures is improving gradually, with the development of arthroscopic repair techniques.

Keywords : Shoulder pain; rotator cuff; partial tear.
