Abstract

Costa Rica [online]. 2010, vol.27, n.2, pp.27-33. ISSN 2215-5287.

Our work was done on fourth grade students from a public primary school to evaluate their knowledge about certain topics considered important in the current times: Drugs and Alcohol, Child Abuse, Family Violence and Sexually Transmited Diseases. Based on data obtained we conluded that there was a serious lack of basic concepts regarding the mentioned topics and we established that the best way to explain those concepts was through workshops, which were performed on december 2009 and that allowed to clarify crucial doubts and allowed us to recognize first hand the serious deficiencies that exists in our current education system in the mentioned topics.

Keywords : Drugs; Alcohol; Family Violence; Child Abuse; Teen Pregnancy; Sexually Transmited Diseases.
