In this paper we present a biography of Alfonso Acosta Guzmán, M.D. He was a costarican physician who studied in Germany at the beginning of the last century. He also was the pioneer of the Forensic Medicine in our country and was a recognized professional in many others fields of medical sciences. He had a lot of ethical qualities and was a visionary of the future of the Legal Medicine in our country. He fighted to build the structure of one of the most prestigious centers of Forensic Medicine in Latin America, the Costa Rican Department of Legal Medicine.
