Abstract

GARCIA PEREZ, Teresita. Estudio del suicidio en la ciudad de La Habana a través de la autopsia psicológica. Med. leg. Costa Rica [online]. 1998, vol.15, n.1-2, pp.24-28. ISSN 2215-5287.

More than a century ago Dr. Tomás Plasencia showed serious preocupation of the suicidal percentage in Cuba, and seriously alerted other doctors of the need to study this behavior, like the only way to prevent it. The method use in this cases is the indirect. The information is obtained by a third source, and by personal documents, such as diaries, notes, and clinique history. It is necessary the revision of the patient's file to know the technical elements at the time of death. The study shows that the most common presuicidal warnings are: pessimistic comentaries about the future, depravation of hope, loneliness, incapability, and low spirits, but above all this is the anouncement of the act. It is a popular saying that who is going to kill himself, doesn't anounce it, but in our report we discover that a third part did, and another third part shower irritability before they did it too. The suicide behavior is presented among men  that are single, under 25 years old, and unemployed. Alcohol and legal drugs are important agents associated with suicide in La Habana. Person with drinking or family problems present a major risk of commiting suicide. The most affected areas are family, home and economy.
