For first time a case is registered of infection for Shewanella putrefasciens, as a product of a marine turtle bite in Costa Rica; the isolated strain is sensible to amikacin, carbenicillin, cefotaxime, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, ciprofloxacin, cloranphenicol, gentamicin, tetraciline. The person was treated with sodium penicillin and gentamicin with total resolution. Special atention is recomended for the non venom reptiles bites and the unusual bacteria isolation, wich may produce identification problems at the clinical laboratory.
