Resumen

CRUZ-CORONADO, José Aníbal; MONGE-PEREZ, José Eladio  y  LORIA-COTO, Michelle. Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) grown under greenhouse conditions: correlations among variables. Tecnología en Marcha [online]. 2021, vol.34, n.4, pp.75-91. ISSN 0379-3982.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18845/tm.v34i4.5334.

For 13 cucumber hybrids grown under greenhouse conditions during rainy season the researchers estimated Pearson correlations among seven characteristics: fruit length, fruit width, fruit weight, number of fruits per plant, total and commercial yield, and percentage of total soluble solids. Among the 13 evaluated hybrids there were eight correlations that were high (r≥0,66) and statistically significant (p≤0,05). In those cases the linear regression statistics were calculated: fruit length and weight (r=0,99); fruit length and number of fruits per plant (r=-0,79); fruit weight and number of fruits per plant (r=-0,72); fruit width and number of fruits per plant (r=-0,79); fruit width and total yield (r=-0,75); fruit width and commercial yield (r=-0,84); number of fruits per plant and commercial yield (r=0,76); and total and commercial yield (r=0,95). Statistically significant correlations were also obtained in eleven additional cases, not across all hybrids but estimated according to the cucumber type (long, medium or small). It is concluded that the type of cucumber has an important effect in the correlation results.
