MARTINEZ-RODRIGUEZ, María Concepción; MAYORGA-PEREZ, Omar; VERA-MARTINEZ, Martin Cutberto  and  GARCIA-MORALES, María Isabel. Eco-labeling and green products: Development and competitiveness. Tecnología en Marcha [online]. 2018, vol.31, n.2, pp.87-97. ISSN 0379-3982.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18845/tm.v31i2.3626.

The environmental problems generated by economic development have increased and the evidence of these are increasingly notable, among the multiple responses that are emerging is that of “green products”, based on a reduced impact on natural resources in their production and use; however, the dilemma arises how to know if a product is green or not? There are in some countries public policy instruments such as eco-labeling in its different types as an alternative to curb greenwashing, however in the growing markets for green products such instruments are lacking as is the case in Latin America and more specific Mexico.

Keywords : Economic development; Environmental problems; instruments of public policy; Environmental economics; Innovation.
