Abstract

CHACON-PADILLA, Karla  and  MONGE-PEREZ, José Eladio. Evaluation of yield and quality of three genotypes of mini cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) grown under greenhouse conditions in Costa Rica, during the dry season. Tecnología en Marcha [online]. 2017, vol.30, n.1, pp.14-26. ISSN 0379-3982.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18845/tm.v30i1.3061.

Yield and quality of three parthenocarpic mini cucumber genotypes grown under greenhouse conditions were evaluated. The harvest begun at 31 days after transplant for all genotypes. Data show a wide variability between genotypes with respect to fruit length (17,83 - 18,41 cm), fruit diameter (42,68 - 43,81 mm), total number of fruits per plant (33,81 - 41,35), mean fruit weight (224,24 - 239,71 g), yield per plant (7717,07 - 9720,08 g/plant), commercial yield (15,63 - 21,13 kg/m2), total yield (20,05 - 25,25 kg/m2), and percentage of total soluble solids (2,97 - 3,10 °Brix). Katrina genotype obtained the highest commercial (21,13 kg/m2) and first quality yield (15,73 kg/m2).
