Abstract

FALLAS, Róger  and  BERTSCH, Floria. Analysis of the potato crop nutrient status in Costa Rica, on the basis of existing information. Agron. Costarricense [online]. 2014, vol.38, n.1, pp.199-206. ISSN 0377-9424.

An analysis of the potato leaf nutrient concentration in Costa Rica was made, from the results of foliar analyses conducted during the years 2006-2012 at the Soil and Foliar Laboratory of the Agronomic Research Center, University of Costa Rica (LSF-CIA/UCR). Also, through different literature sources, the potato crop’s nutrient sufficiency ranges established in different regions of the world were compiled. This information  was  compared  with  the  percentaje of samples analyzed in Costa Rica and found below the critical concentrations reported in the literature. A large amount of samples were found below the critical concentration of nutrients B, Ca an Mg as defined in the literature, depending on whether the minimum or average literature results were used as a criterium for critical foliar level.

Keywords : Nutrient sufficiency ranges; leaf analysis; Solanum tuberosum; Costa Rica.
