Solute concentrations in clinical solutions are usually expressed using different concentration units simultaneously Unit transformation is accomplished using conversion factors, sometimes at the expense of an adequate grasp of basic definitions. In order to provide for a better understanding of concentration units, we provide in this review their theoretical basis and applications, as well as an alternase, easy method for their conversion.
