Abstract

MONTVELISKY, Herman  and  SING-HUNG, Chang. Tumor de células Sertoli-Leydig: descripción de dos casos. Rev. costarric. cienc. méd [online]. 1997, vol.18, n.1, pp.65-71. ISSN 0253-2948.

The most frequent virilizing tumors of the ovary are Seroli-Leydig cell tumors (SLCT). Although rare, accounting for only 0.2-0.5% of all ovarian neoplasms, SLCT is one of the main differencial diagnoses when there is androgenization, especially in young women. Most behave clinically as low-grade malignancies and are detected in early stages, which allow a conservative surgical treatment, usually with good prognosis and survival rates. In this article, two typical cases of SLCT with virilization syndrome are described and discussed, along with a brief literature review.

Keywords : Androblastoma; androgens; Leydig cell tumors; Sertoli cell tumors; ovarian neoplasms.
