Abstract
GARCIA, Elmer G. and DI STEFANO, José F.. Temperatura y germinación de las semillas de Dalbergia retusa (Papilionaceae), árbol en peligro de extinción. Rev. biol. trop [online]. 2000, vol.48, n.1, pp.43-45. ISSN 0034-7744.
The effect of temperature over Dalbergia retusa Hemsl. germination was studied in the laboratory. Seeds were disinfected and placed in Petri dishes for germination at 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 °C. Germination percentage and the hypocotyl-radicle length were measured after three and five days. The highest germination (85.6%) was obtained at 30 °C. Lower temperatures did not favor germination. Some seeds were able to germinate at 40 and 45 °, a physiological adaptation to hot environments.
Keywords : germination; temperature; seeds; temperature adaptation.
