Abstract

These are two cases of Angiostrongylus costaricensis infestation. In case #1 surgical treatment was followed by persistence of abdominal problems and eosinophilia. The case was finally resolved with 2 courses of treatment with albendazol. Case #2 was diagnosed early and successfully treated with albendazol. The patient presented marked leukocytosis with eosinophilia after the medication was started, and no adverse effects to the treatment were detected. The patient became asymptomatic 4 days after completing the 7 day course of albendazol.
