CAMPILLAY BRIONES, Servando y MELENDEZ ARAYA, Nahur. Analysis of impact of methodology activates and heuristic learning in subjects of engineering. Rev. Actual. Investig. Educ [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.2, pp.330-346. ISSN 1409-4703.
This article provides experiences of incorporating dynamic methodologies and heuristic learning in the first year subjects of Engineering Faculty careers at Universidad de Atacama. The pilot program was carried out with groups of students who were taking the "Programming Introduction" course, during March 2013 to December 2014. For this purpose, a variety of techniques have been implemented in these courses. Some of them are not new and generally not used in courses with a large number of students or in the initial academic training of freshmen engineers. Even though first interventions caused some level of rejection, after assuming their roles, both teachers and students obtained positive results. These, demonstrate a major level of attendance and participation in class, combined with a considerable increase in academic performance (177%), and the improvement of meaningful learning achieved by the students, especially referring to Algorithmic Thinking development and Logic in programming teaching, which historically have been two themes that presented great level of complexity in the learning process. The research shown in this article belongs to the development of an advanced investigation project DIUDA-22249, financed by the Investigation Direction and Postgraduate Studies of Universidad de Atacama.
