Bibliometric study of Centro Agrícola Journal, Cuba

ResumenLos análisis de referencias de las publicaciones seriadas constituyen herramientas oportunas para la toma de decisiones encaminadas a mejorar la calidad de las revistas. En este artículo se plantean como objetivos examinar las referencias de los artículos publicados por la Revista Centro Agrícola de la Universidad Central ''Marta Abreu'' de Las Villas, Cuba. En el estudio se caracteriza la publicación y las referencias que emplea la revista. Se aplican cinco indicadores unidimensionales: año más referenciado, tipología documental más referenciada, autores más referenciados, índice Price por años e índice Price total. Para la obtención de los resultados se crea una base de datos bibliográfica, siendo este producto uno de los resultados de la investigación. Se analizan las oportunidades que ofrece el Open Journal Systems para las publicaciones seriadas, la necesidad de utilizar referencias actualizadas y los aspectos negativos de la endogamia editorial. El análisis arriba a conclusiones y recomendaciones que contribuirán a mejorar la calidad de la revista, facilitando el posicionamiento e indización en bases de datos de prestigio.

AbstractThe analysis of references of serials publications are appropriate tools for making decisions to improve the quality of the journals. This article raises as objectives to examine the references of the articles published by the Centro Agrícola Journal of the Universidad Central ''Marta Abreu'' de Las Villas, Cuba. This article characterizes the publication and the references employed by the journal. Five unidimensionals indicators are applied: most referenced year, most referenced document types, most referenced authors, Price index for years, and Price index total. To obtain the results, a bibliographic database is created, and this product is one of the results of research. The opportunities of the Open Journal Systems for serial publication, the need to use updated references, and negative aspects of the publishing endogamy are analyzed. The analysis arrives to conclusions and recommendations that contribute to improving the quality of the journal, facilitating the positioning and indexing in databases of prestige.

Implementation of informatics organizations process as a competence on the informatics professional formation

Resumen.La implementación de procesos de informatización es una de las actividades más importantes en la actividad ingenieril. En el artículo, el autor se asume d istintas posiciones teóricas de la bibliografía revisada sobre el proceso de implementación y sus clasificaciones. Además, se asumen los elementos esenciales del currículo informático en el mundo y la importancia de la implementación en ellos. En el último acápite se analiza cómo estructurar la implementación como elemento esencial en el modo de actuación de quienes son profesionales en tecnología de la información.

Abstract.The implementation is one of the more important activities in the engineers activity. In this article, the author assumes theoretic positions of the bibliography looked up on the implementation process and his classifications. In addition, the information -technology curriculum's essential elements in the world and the importance of implementation in them are assumed. In the last paragraph, the article examines how structuring the implementation as essential element in the mode of acting of the information -technology professional.

Content accessibility in an institutional repository: analysis, tools and usage of the EPUB format

Resumen.El objetivo de este trabajo es describir alternativas incorporadas en el formato EPUB3 para promover el acceso a la producción académica y científica de las instituciones por parte de personas con discapacidades visuales. Como punto de partida se toma la figura del repositorio institucional como espacio que alberga y difunde esta producción, y cuyos objetivos incluyen darle mayor visibilidad y maximizar su impacto, manteniéndose así en la misma línea con la propuesta de este estudio. Se analizan los aportes introducidos en el formato EPUB3 con respecto a sus antecesores. En particular, se estudian las extensiones existentes que sirven para optimizar la síntesis de voz a partir de los textos (TTS, text-to-speech), la incorporación de voces adicionales y múltiples voces, y finalmente las herramientas disponibles para visualizar y reproducir documentos EPUB3 con incorporaciones TTS. En este aspecto, se hace énfasis en las aplicaciones accesibles gratuitamente desde dispositivos móviles actuales a fin de asegurar el aprovechamiento de estos aportes por cualquier potencial persona usuaria. Por último, se evalúa la viabilidad de implementar un circuito de generación de documentos EPUB3 accesibles, y se analizan posibles servicios adicionales que el repositorio institucional

AbstractThe aim of this work is to describe alternatives introduced in EPUB 3 format to promote access to the academic and scientific institutional production by users with visual disabilities. The figure of the Institutional Repository is taken as starting line, understood as a space which hosts and disseminates this production, and whose objectives include maximizing its impact and fostering its visibility, both in the same line with the proposal of the study.Contributions in EPUB 3 format are analyzed and compared to its predecessors. Particularly, the existent extensions that are useful to optimize the voice synthesis for text to speech (TTS), the ability to add spare and multiple voices, and some of the available tools to visualize and reproduce TTS-enabled EPUB 3 documents. In this matter, the stress has been put on applications freely available for current mobile devices, in order to ensure that any potential user will be able to take advantage of these contributions. Lastly, the viability of implementing a circuit for accessible EPUB 3 documents generation is discussed, and further services for an institutional repository to offer from these tools are briefly mentioned.

Descubriendo los modelos de los datos interconectados: BibFrame

Resumen.Por medio de esta revisión, se busca realizar un recuento y una explicación sobre el entorno de intercambio bibliográfico BibFrame a partir del conocimiento que ha sido diseminado, en su mayor parte, por un grupo de profesionales de la Biblioteca del Congreso de los Estados Unidos de América. En este trabajo, se muestran aspectos clave de esta iniciativa en y se enfocan cuestiones medulares de su funcionamiento como entorno ubicado en la web. Se discute su posible normalización partiendo del traslado de MARC21 a esta herramienta.

Abstract.This review aims to report on and explain the bibliographic exchange environment BibFrame taking as starting point the knowledge that has been disseminated, mainly, by a group of professionals from the Library Of Congress of the United States of America. This work shows key aspects of this initiative and focus on medular points regarding its functioning as a web environment. The work discusses the possible standardization of this environment, starting with transferring from MARC21 to this tool.

Digital literacy: A sociological perspective

ResumenLa presente revisión pretende realizar un ejercicio reflexivo sobre las implicaciones epistemológicas del surgimiento de las Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación (TIC) y su inclusión en el currículo educativo. Para esto se revisan distintos conceptos de educación a través del contexto histórico, así como el fin mismo de la educación considerando la perspectiva de distintas personas pensadoras y expertas desde sus teorías socioeducativas. Finalmente se examinan algunas teorías de aprendizaje que, a consideración de la autora y los autores, respaldan la nueva concepción de un proceso de aprendizaje que debe incluir el uso de las herramientas tecnológicas y, en consecuencia, establecer las pautas para la alfabetización digital de docentes y estudiantes

AbstractThe present review aims to perform a reflexive exercise on the epistemological implications of the emergence of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and their inclusion in the educational curriculum. For this propuse, the paper reviews the different concepts of education through the historical context, as well as the very purpose of education considering the perspective of different thinkers and experts from their socio-educational theories. Finally, it examines few learning theories that, on consideration of the authors, support the new conception of a learning process that must include the use of technological tools, and, consequently, establish guidelines for the digital literacy of teachers and students.

Librarianship applications for open access to scientific information in the digital environmet

ResumenSe presentan las aplicaciones bibliotecológicas actuales para el libre acceso a la información científica en el entorno digital. Mediante el análisis descriptivo, se presentan algunas de las tendencias bibliotecológicas actuales para el libre acceso a la información científica y académica en la web. Se ha identificado que las aplicaciones impactan en las siguientes áreas de la Bibliotecología y los Estudios de la Información: tecnologías de la información; sistemas y servicios bibliotecarios y de información; búsqueda y recuperación de información; acceso a la información. Las actividades desarrolladas en cada área, tienen el objetivo de proporcionar a la persona usuaria de las bibliotecas el acceso a la información sin ningún tipo de restricción; no obstante, nuevos fenómenos informativos han surgido mediante la aplicación de dichas tendencias. De esta manera, el presente artículo tiene como objetivo analizar las aplicaciones bibliotecológicas actuales, para el libre acceso a la información científica a través de la web

AbstractLibrarianship current applications for free access to scientific information in the digital environment are presented. By descriptive analysis, some of the current librarianship trends for free access to scientific and academic information on the web. It has been identified that impact applications in the following areas of Library and Information Studies: information technology; systems and library, and information services; information retrieval; access to information. The activities in each area are intended to provide the user library access to information without any restriction, however new information phenomena have arisen through the application of such trends. Thus, this article aims to analyze the current librarianship applications for free access to scientific information through the web.
